Avianor: A Real-Time View of MRO Production

Client Case Study

Avianor is a Quebec-based company specializing in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of commercial aircraft, headquartered in Mirabel. Its teams simultaneously coordinate several aircraft in the hangar, each moving through dozens of work phases, from initial inspections to engine installation, regulatory modifications, and final checks.

The Challenge

When an aircraft enters the hangar at Avianor, specialized teams work in parallel on hundreds of tasks. In 2025, changes to the operational system made it difficult to access a consolidated, real-time view. Managers had to manually piece together information to answer a seemingly simple question: where do things stand with this aircraft today?

The Solution

Ventriloc developed the “Progress Status” Power BI dashboard, connected directly to Snowflake, the data platform already deployed at Avianor as part of an artificial intelligence project carried out with Vooban. Danny Radermaker, a data engineering expert at Ventriloc, designed the architecture to avoid any data duplication between the two initiatives by building a shared Gold layer.

For each aircraft under maintenance, the report displays key indicators at a glance: entry and exit dates, number of days in the hangar, percentage of task completion, inspection results, missing parts, and headcount. A bar chart breaks down progress by major work phase, from modifications to final checks, including engine installation and panel closures. An exploded aircraft diagram, with color-coded sections, lets the whole team visually locate work in progress. A communication banner broadcasts operational alerts in real time. The report was deployed on television screens in the hangars, accessible without needing to open a computer.

This is what we needed to get relevant information to the right people. The demand for Power BI just keeps growing now!

The Impact

Since going into production, Avianor’s planning teams have used the dashboard to track the progress of each aircraft in real time, without having to manually compile data. The solution is maintained and continues to evolve, contributing to Avianor’s ongoing growth.
